Workplace recycling in Wales
Find out more about the Welsh Government regulations that will require all workplaces to separate recyclable materials.
What is Workplace Recycling?
From 6 April 2024, it became law for all businesses, charities, and public sector organisations in Wales to separate their waste for recycling. From 6 April 2026 the second phase of these regulations will roll out and these require the segregated collection of Small Waste Electricals and Electronic Equipment (sWEEE). To ensure all our customers are well-prepared for the upcoming changes, we’ve made it hassle-free to update waste containers to those required by the new obligations.
Six core waste streams
Workplace Recycling regulations will obligate workplaces in Wales to start separating all recycling materials into six core waste streams. This means the recyclable waste will have to be segregated, stored, and collected separately by 6 April 2024. The materials that will need to be separated for collection are:
